How YouTube Can Help Your Business Thrive

Hi, Dave Fox from Starscape SEO here, and today I want to talk about how Youtube can help your business grow and attract more customers.

Over the years, I’ve been involved with the growth of several prominent Youtube channels, with one such example being my brother-in-law Dr. Chris Raynor’s channel, a “medical edu-tainment” channel that I’ve been lucky enough to have some small part in as it has grown and changed.

Now, with Dr. Chris, I happen to know that he has a private gym in Ottawa that focuses on mobility training, and does physiotherapy.  His Youtube channel is not so much a “local” channel, ie. it isn’t strictly trying to drive traffic to his location in Ottawa.  Rather, it’s more of a larger scope brand that operates separately from his brick and mortar gym.

I have worked with other business owners who are definitely more “local” in terms of having a Youtube channel that drives traffic to a local business, and this is the strategy I’m really focusing on in this article.  That is, where your Youtube channel aligns with your in-person business, where the two are basically one and the same.

On the other hand, I’ve talked to many business owners, in many different industries, who are not exactly keen on starting a Youtube channel for their business, which could be for a number of reasons.

Depending on my relationship with said business owner, I may or may not have the time to explain to these business owners how exactly it could benefit them, and so that’s why here in this article I will take the time to plead my case for how it can be more than a little helpful.

Youtube Offers Businesses A Lot Out of the Gate

YouTube, the world’s second-largest search engine, is more than just a platform for cat videos and music playlists.

It’s a powerful tool that can significantly boost your business, especially if you have a brick-and-mortar store.

By leveraging YouTube’s vast audience and unique features, you can showcase your products, connect with potential customers, and drive foot traffic to your physical location.

Product Demonstrations and Tutorials

One of the most effective ways to use YouTube for your brick-and-mortar business is to create product demonstrations and tutorials.

These videos can visually showcase the benefits and features of your products, making it easier for potential customers to understand their value.

For example, if you sell kitchen appliances, you could create a video demonstrating how to use a new blender or showcasing the features of a high-tech oven.

Behind-the-Scenes Content

Giving your audience a glimpse into your business operations can help build trust and loyalty.

Create videos that take viewers behind the scenes, showcasing your team, manufacturing processes, or special events.

This can humanize your brand and make it more relatable to your target audience.

For instance, a clothing store could create a video about the sustainable materials used in their products or showcase the artisans who create their handmade items.

Local SEO Boost

Optimizing your YouTube videos with relevant keywords and location information can significantly improve your local search engine rankings.

When people search for businesses near them, your videos may appear in the search results, increasing your visibility and driving foot traffic to your store.

For example, if you own a restaurant, you could create videos about your signature dishes, local ingredients, or special events.

Be sure to include your city and neighborhood in the video titles and descriptions.

Customer Testimonials

Customer testimonials can be a powerful tool for attracting new customers.

Encourage satisfied customers to share their experiences through video testimonials.

These videos can be highly effective because they feature real people who have had positive experiences with your business.

You can also use customer testimonials to address common concerns or objections that potential customers may have.

Educational Content

Providing valuable information to your target audience through educational videos can position your business as an expert in your field.

This can attract potential customers who are seeking solutions to their problems.

For example, a hardware store could create videos on DIY tips, home improvement projects, or tool maintenance.

Live Streaming

Live streaming can be a great way to create a more interactive experience for your audience.

You can use live streams to host events, product launches, or Q&A sessions.

This can generate excitement around your business and encourage viewers to visit your store.

For example, a bookstore could host a live author event or a local musician could perform a live concert.

Targeted Advertising

YouTube’s advertising platform allows you to reach specific demographics and interests, ensuring that your ads are seen by the right people.

This can be a highly effective way to promote your business and drive traffic to your website or store.

For example, a clothing store could target their ads to people interested in fashion, style, or specific brands.

By leveraging these strategies, you can effectively use YouTube to promote your brick-and-mortar business, build brand awareness, and drive foot traffic to your store.

Remember to create high-quality videos that are engaging, informative, and relevant to your target audience.
